Request for Assistance

My Brother:

Rising Sun Lodge, along with the other Lodges of the18th Masonic District, has joined Laurel Lodge in a project to assist the people of the southern part of the Philippines who were victims of a recent typhoon. Approximately 1400 people lost their lives, many more were injured and several have lost their homes and their possessions.

Among those affected are families of Brother Masons.

Through this project we extend our Fraternal Hand of Friendship to our Brethren across the Pacific Ocean, thus visibly demonstrating the Universality of Freemasonry. But it also allows us to put into practice the frequently heard admonition that our “generous priniciples should extend further” even to those who, though not of our Brotherhood, nonetheless are of the Brotherhood of Man.

However, our window of opportunity to help is quite small as the Lodge which started this project, Laurel Lodge, will be sending off the needed items (listed below) after their meeting of Friday, January 20th.

The collection will take place at our Masonic Temple when Rising Sun Lodge meets to confer the Fellow Craft Degree upon worthy Candidates:  Wednesday evening, January 18th, from 6:30 until 9:30 pm.

In addition to these items, cash contributions will be accepted – as a convenience to those who wish to help but may not have the opportunity to pick up the needed items – so that bulk purchases of needed goods may be made.

The items sought are:

  • Toiletries
  • Soap
  • Shoes
  • Sneakers
  • Clothing Children and Adult
  • Canned soup
  • Towels
  • School supplies
  • T Shirts
  • Medications (Cold, Flu, Aspirin, Motrin)
  • Slippers

We trust that circumstances will permit you to join your Fellow Freemasons this Wednesday evening as we reach out to a portion of our “human family” that is in dire need of Relief and to participate in the advancement of our new Brothers.

Yours in The Gentle Craft of Freemasonry,
